ICON COMMISSIONS

Icons are painted in the Byzantine manner with egg tempera, natural pigments, and  gold leaf gilding.  They are astonishing in their beauty and anointing when seen in person.

Each icon has its own symbolic meaning, and enhances prayer while inspiring us to spend more time in prayer and mediation.  Often an icon is commissioned for the meaning it has which is applied to an area of prayer request or need.  Other times, people choose icons of their patron saint or order an icon painted as a gift for a friend or a priest.  We can help you choose a suitable model.

Each icon originates from a prototype from before the sixteenth century and is "written" with great care and prayer by the iconographer.  It is a process which requires time, so please allow 4-12 weeks for completion.
